Jalen Hurts Overcomes Concussion Scare to Lead Eagles to Victory
During the Philadelphia Eagles' 26-18 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday night, quarterback Jalen Hurts faced significant physical challenges but continued to shine on the field.
Jalen Hurts took several hard hits during the game, including a sack in the second quarter by defensive back Frankie Luvu that drove his head into the turf. Later in the same quarter, while scrambling in the red zone, Hurts was brought down by two defenders, causing his helmet to slam face-first into the ground. Despite these collisions, the star quarterback demonstrated resilience.
Before halftime, Jalen Hurts entered the medical tent to be evaluated for a potential concussion but cleared the protocol without missing any snaps. When asked about his experience, Hurts stated, "I guess I beat the protocol." When pressed further on whether he was surprised to be tested, Hurts added, "It happens. Was I surprised? I don’t know."
Jalen Hurts completed 18 of 28 passes for 221 yards and contributed 39 rushing yards, including a rushing touchdown. His leadership and performance were instrumental in extending the Eagles' winning streak to six games.
While running back Saquon Barkley also had a standout performance with 146 rushing yards and two critical fourth-quarter touchdowns, the focus remained on Hurts as the driving force behind the Eagles' success. With this win, the team now leads the NFC East and cements its position as a Super Bowl contender.
The Eagles will look to extend their streak when Jalen Hurts leads the team into Los Angeles for a Nov. 24 matchup against the Rams.
